Eurydice - Flynn Castles

IYL: Alex Helsby, Aleski Campagne, Jess Humphries

Ohio All The Time - Momma

IYL: Bully, Wednesday, Plaehound

Following Momma’s beloved 2020 LP Two of Me, which introduced the world to the symbiotic writing style & profound creative intuition of founders Etta Friedman & Allegra Weingarten, the band’s third studio album Household Name reveals an exciting new chapter marked by both personal & artistic growth. Mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Emily Lazar, the album is a tightly-stitched collection that is magnetic & dynamic, & also marks their debut for Polyvinyl Record Co./Lucky Number.

Bygone heroes helped inspire a lyrical theme throughout Household Name: the rise and fall of the rock star, & the tropes & tribulations that come with that arc. The theme allowed the group to celebrate icons like Nirvana, Pavement, Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, and the Breeders’ Kim Deal, while weaving in their own perspective and experiences. Standouts like “Medicine,” which The Line of Best Fit described as an “addictive alt-rock tonic,” and “Speeding 72” showcase the band’s knack for developing hooky guitar lines paired with an intricate, yet boisterous rhythm section. The album perfects a balance of heavy riffs, deep emotions, inviting sonic production, and a lighthearted, wry sense of humor, creating a singular lane for Momma in today's world of alt-rock.

In addition to a full US tour supporting Death Cab for Cutie, tour legs with Weezer plus Alex G Momma have been featured in outlets such as DIY, NPR, Stereogum, and Rolling Stone, who featured them as 2020’s “Artist You Need To Know.”

One Eye Open - Mimi Webb

IYL: Lauren Spencer Smith, Dylan Conrique, Bow Anderson

Mimi Webb projects a voice as magnetic, massive, and magical as her personality. Originally hailing from the UK town of Canterbury, the pop singer and songwriter turns up the volume on every emotion with skyscraping runs and open-heart honesty.
Inspired by the likes of Amy Winehouse, Emelie Sandé, and Sam Smith, she started writing songs of her own at 13-years-old in diaries before eventually learning guitar. Three years later, she attended the prestigious BIMM [British Institute of Modern Music]. In 2019, she inked a deal with Epic Records, followed by the release of her debut single “Before I Go” in 2020.

Cartoon Darkness - Amyl and the Sniffers

IYL: IDLES, Wine Lips, Viagra Boys

In the eight years since Amyl and The Sniffers came together in Melbourne’s sticky pub-rock scene, Amyl and the Sniffers have become masters of balancing power and playfulness. With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt - 2019’s self-titled debut and 2021’s visceral ‘Comfort To Me’ - vocalist Amy Taylor, guitarist Declan Mehrtens, bassist Gus Romer and drummer Bryce Wilson have achieved something unique and remarkable.

Since the release of Comfort to Me, the band has seen their horizons broaden exponentially in every way. And it’s this attitude - bigger, brighter, smarter, sharper - that’s fuelling their third album, ‘Cartoon Darkness’. Recorded with producer Nick Launay at Foo Fighters’ 606 Studios in Los Angeles, on the same desk that captured Nirvana’s Nevermind and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, the latest Amyl offering is full of surprises. Musically, Mehrtens, Romer and Wilson have written The Sniffers’ most diverse album yet. It stretches from classic punk to the glammy strut of recent single ‘U Should Not Be Doing That’ to the stormy balladry of ‘Big Dreams’ and beyond. "Cartoon Darkness is driving head first into the unknown, into this looming sketch of the future that feels terrible, but doesn’t even exist yet. A childlike darkness," says Amy Taylor. "I don’t want to meet the devil half-way and mourn what we have right now. The future is cartoon, the prescription is dark, but it's novelty. It's just a joke. It's fun."

growing through it - Brye

IYL: Addison Grace, Melina KB, Leanna Firestone

Brye is having a phenomenal year. In January of 2023 she single handedly sparked a movement on tiktok and reels with her body positivity anthem “Diet Culture,” amassing millions of streams on Spotify alone. Her debut album “RECOVER” is leaning into the hype. With soft rhythmic production, and melodies begging worm their way into your ears. These songs are here to wrap you up in a warm hug and tell you “it’s going to get better.” Filled to the brim with frank realizations about the "diet culture" we live in, and bookended with hopeful declarations of resistance. The album’s title “RECOVER” feels more like a call to action, than just a name.

Still Riding the viral wave of tiktok sensation LEMONS, it’s clear, misogyny is not the only oppressive system Brye has the desire to oppose in her songwriting. She dives headfirst into exploring unrequited queer love and religious shame in "Jenna," and fearlessly discusses the in’s and out’s of eating disorder recovery in tracks like Diet Culture, RECOVER, NOTHING!, and Direct Message.

Brye is a plus sized, queer, self produced, singer songwriter, and she is making waves. Amassing over eighty million streams on Spotify alone, in just three years. Catching the attention of industry heavyweights, Olivia Rodrigo and Dodie. Collaborating with the likes of Cavetown, Addison Grace, Dacelynn and Frances Forever.

I Hate You (You Hate Me) - DWLLRS

IYL: Bennett Coast, Krooked Kings, Aiden bissett

This duo project was born in our dorm room during a time of our life that was heavily dependent upon sleepless nights of video games, Canes sauce, and overbearing existential conversations. We’re just a a couple boys from a small town by the coast of cali. Before we were a band Bren was a thespian with a tendency to shave his head and Joey was a musical wizard with the voice of an angel. We came together and chose to write about the thing we have most in common: thinking too much. Thus, DWLLRS was conceived and the world was forever changed — at least our world was.

Nowadays, we can’t stay up til 3 am playing video games as much and too much Texas Toast will make us sad. But the music will never go away. It’s scary to think about time and how fast it’s been flying. And it’s hard to hold tight to those dreams you had when you were a kid. We’ve always bonded with each other on the underlying beauty that is hidden in life’s process. The pain, the sorrow, the love, and the loss all amount to something that is greater than all of us, but that at the same time requires each and everyone of us to be a part of it in order for it to function. This is our part. This is DWLLRS.

Rush of Energy - bike routes

IYL: Hyber, Same Side, Bad Neighbour

Bike Routes is David Lawrence Osterhout. Deeply intimate, earnest, and heartfelt expressions of anxiety, heartbreak, and acceptance lie within deceptively sugary melodies and hooks. David’s acoustic guitar is the anchor, inviting listeners into a notebook full of emotion and authenticity.

The Garden State gave the world Bruce Springsteen, The Misfits, Lifetime, and The Gaslight Anthem. There’s perhaps a bit of the essence of each of those trailblazers within the Bike Routes sound. While the South Jersey singer/songwriter conjures the spirit of the iconic troubadours of indie rock, classic emo, and postmodern pop-punk, he distinctively carves a singularly unique identity all his own.

The Rush of Energy EP, the first Bike Routes release via Blue Grape Music, crackles with urgency and energy without losing the intimate feel of the earlier work. “You Want It, You Got It” and “World Apart” are ready-made anthems for audiences who share Osterhout’s diverse tastes and passions.

Bike Routes excels in the live environment, as evidenced on a Spring 2024 tour with Hawthorne Heights. “Reading books is a huge hobby of mine,” David says. “And I’ve always loved writing. Learning how to say what I want exactly the right way throughout the years has been such a joy. Playing shows has been the payoff. Performing these songs that I feel fully connected to and connecting with the crowd is the greatest gift in the world.”
