Since taking up electric guitar at the age of 12, Towa Bird has come to rely on her chosen instrument as something of a second voice – an immediate vessel for raw self-expression, often manifested in the form of frenetic yet sublimely executed guitar solos. Now 23 years old, the Hong Kong-born, half-Filipino, half-English singer/songwriter is ready to unleash her own original music unto the world. She says of the music - “I grew up listening to so many male-gazey love songs, and it was important to put something out into the world that felt like the music I wanted for myself when I was a kid.” She’s able to do just that with her sweetly crafted sound – one that strikes a rare balance of boldness with sensitivity, and is both wildly explosive while sharing a tender exploration of queerness, identity, and the complexities of love.
