The winter holidays are upon us and no matter what you celebrate, (or don't) some of the staff at Voltage Live shares their favorite holiday traditions!
My favorite holiday tradition hands down has to be watching questionably bad Hallmark Christmas movies as possible with my mom. There’s just something so comforting about the monotony and predictability of these movies, and the time I spend with my mom. Because we wanted to share this tradition with everyone, we started a podcast called That’s A Wrap where we review the movies we watch!
I love Christmas music. I know it’s the bane of a lot of people’s existence, but I just love it. I love how cheesy it is, how romantic it is, how every song is just one of like five originals re-covered by a thousand artists, I love all of it. When that music is playing on some store radio and the snow is coming down and lights are twinkling… man, that’s it right there.
my favorite holiday tradition would have to be watching Mickey Mouse’s Once Upon A Christmas in my room whilst being on my bed all warm and cozy. When I was younger I would often sing one of the main songs that played at the end of the movie and it would get stuck in my mom’s head. I want to continue this tradition throughout my whole life since it just makes every holiday special.
Out of all of the things to do on the holidays, I always look forward to seeing my family gather together at my grandparents' house for a holiday feast. Grandma makes our favorite Russian dishes, and everyone brings something for dessert! I never fail to eat way too many vegetables and dip, causing a struggle to make room for all the sweets! The day after, we always meet back together to finish all the food we couldn’t finish! You can never go wrong with good food!
My favorite holiday tradition is making hot cocoa and putting up the Christmas tree with my family! We always blast the Christmas music and most of the time argue about where the ornaments should go. It’s truly chaotic, but I wouldn’t trade that time with my family for anything. I also enjoy a more recent tradition that my sister and I have started where we will drive around our neighborhood and look at the Christmas lights!
